Pacific Raceways is a unique track for viewing a road race. As with other road courses around the country, you cannot see the entire track from one location. However, there are some very fine viewing areas that just happen to be located near the most interesting sections of the track.
The PR road course is 2.25 miles in length with ten turns, a near ¾ mile front straightaway and a 300 foot elevation drop between turn two and the back straight. To get to the best viewing areas you must cross the track at turn 10 (the old start-finish line). A short walk takes you to a grassy area overlooking the twin hairpin turns of 3A and 3B. From here you can watch the cars exit turn two, head down a steep hill and into the hairpins. Also from the infield, there are some great views of the “esses” section of the track (turn 5 and 6). The action is fast and furious here as the drivers must drive this section exactly right or they will be slow all the way up the hill and into turn 8. Be sure to spend some time in the paddock area to see the cars up close. Feel free to ask the drivers any questions you wish; they will be happy to talk to you. Here you can find out how you too can become part of the excitement of vintage road racing.
